An Unimaginable Love

By

The sky exploded, the earth in disarray,

Yet love refused to be dismayed.

In Nagasaki’s burning breath,

A mother rose to challenge death.

Her daughter lay trapped beneath a beam,

A fragile life, a fading dream.

Men turned away, their strength undone-

But she, burned bare beneath the sun

She bore the fire, the weight, the cost,

For love arises when all seems lost.

That night she died, her soul released-

But in her arms, her child found peace.

And in a station, dim and bare,

Another mother was found there.

Her infant nestled at her breast,

A flicker of hope seeking warmth and rest.

Through bruised and bleeding, she held him tight,

A lullaby beneath the night.

Ten days of hope, ten days of grace-

She gave all she could in that small space.

But the child passed on, and the silence grew,

But love remained- steadfast and true.

For even when the light is gone,

The flame of a mother’s love burns on.

It lives with the ashes, it lives in the air,

In every whisper and each silent prayer.

No war can crush, nor flame erase

The love that time cannot replace…
